Shooting Star Yoga Studio is Pavones’ first yoga establishment, opened in the year 2000. Amy Khoo, the studio’s founder, owner, and on-site instructor, has been a long time resident of Pavones and has been practicing yoga for over 18 years. She was trained by and studied with David Swenson in Ashtanga and Bikram Yoga. More recently she studied Anusara yoga with Noah Maze and Kenny Graham.

The Shooting Star studio is beautifully constructed and located 30 m from the beach and the Pavones surf break. They offer classes and retreats specializing in yoga for surfers. While participating at a retreat at Shooting Star, students stay at La Ponderosa.

Amy has produced a DVD called Yoga 4 Surf. It is one hour in length and was filmed at the Shooting Star Studio. The sequence is a great preparation to strengthen your body for surfing or to stretch deeply afterward. It is recommended for anyone wanting to strengthen their core and expand their breath.
